The music originating from Latin America is widely known as Latino music. The music is known for his rhythm and the mixture of vocal and instrumental leads. The history of Latin music goes way back. It all started with the music from folks such as the Mayas. With the arrival of the Europeans, the Spanish and Portuguese languages were brought to South America. The Spanish and Portuguese languages are also the languages that are used in today’s Latino music. There are various types of Latino music such as Samba, Salsa, Reggeaton, Tango, Bolero, and Rumba.

Salsa music is originated in New York where musicians from Puerto Rico, Mexico, Cuba and South America came together between the years of 1930 and 1960. They started to play together and a combination of their native rhythms is the Salsa music as we know today. The Samba music is the most typical music of Brazil. The original rhythm of samba music is based on the prayer music. That is also why this type of music is called samba because samba means to pray. Latino music is also represented in the charts of today by artist such as Shakira and Enrique Iglesias. Their music is better known as Latin pop and it’s a mix of pop music and the Latino music.

Shakira is a Colombian singer, songwriter and dancer, record producer, choreographer, and model. In the late 90s she became very popular in Latin America. In the new millennium she entered the English-language market with her fifth album, Laundry Service. The lead single, "Whenever, Wherever", became the best-selling single of 2002. Her music has always contain huge Latino music influences. She was also selected to make the soundtrack of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The song ‘’Waka Waka’’ became the biggest-selling World Cup song of all time.
