Christian rap music has exclusively come out protestant traditions in de United States, although there is a small Catholic Rap scene that has recently emerged, and there are also small Christian rap scenes in the UK, Australia, and Brazil. The first commercially released and distributed Gospel rap album was MC Sweet's 1982 album The Gospel Beat: Jesus-Christ, distributed by PolyGram. This genre is very popular in the United States.
