Caroline Community Radio is an Ofcom licenced radio station and provides a 24 hour daily radio service for the towns and villages within the Maldon District on the Essex coast on 94.7 FM. Our programmes are also available online, on smart speaker and various apps, around the world. Our daytime programmes are music based and feature the best of the last five decades, presented by experienced broadcasters – Caroline Community Radio is a modern radio station with a long memory. Our evening programmes are presented by local people who have an interest in radio and communicating and welcome the chance to learn the relevant skills needed from our experienced broadcasters – we are committed to encouraging new voices and talent. Caroline Community Radio is staffed entirely by volunteers. Caroline Community Radio is operated by St. Peters studio and community Radio Ltd.

Born in Burnham, Ray has been involved in efforts to bring radio to the area since 1971. Initially working for the BBC in London, after leaving school Ray gained experience as a 'disc jockey’ in local pubs and halls before, eventually joining Radio Caroline in the eighties where he was known as ‘Mick Williams’ a name he'd 'borrowed' from a friend. Since then Ray has enjoyed a successful career in radio, that continues to this day,

Through no fault of his own (none that he's prepared to admit to, anyway) Peter Philips has, since birth, sounded like a nineteen fifties public service announcement - which is why his colleagues sometimes refer to him as "The World Service". He likes all sorts of music and has spent more of his life listening to it than he should have done. He still enjoys discovering new stuff as well as nostalgically revisiting older material. His other hobbies include walking in the countryside

Johnny started his long radio career on Radio Caroline in the 1970s as both broadcaster and engineer until the Mi Amigo sank in 1980. He later worked for The Voice of Peace off the coast of Israel and numerous radio stations in Ireland. He was aboard Laser 558 before returning to Caroline on the Ross Revenge. Johnny can still be heard regularly on Radio Caroline broadcasts from the Caroline ship. Johnny has also been heard on several local commercial radio stations around the UK

What could be the reason there is no sound?

1. Make sure your speakers and the media player are not muted :) Not an uncommon problem ;)
2. Please try again in another browser, preferably Chrome, Firefox and when using a windows media player option Internet Explorer.
3. Try another stream type clicking: windows media player or external player as alternative
4. Be patient, some radiostations load within 10-20 seconds due to high traffic issues.
5. If you do not have any flash player we automatically load the second best player, so again be patient.
6. If the stream doesn't start automatically please click the play button or the mp3 option on the right, please retry 1,2 or 3 times. Most of the times this works.
7. If you are using a windows media player, this will mostly only work in Internet Explorer.
8. A radiostation might be temporarily unavailable due to several reasons. If your favorite station is not working right now, please try again in a few moments.
9. The media player isn't showing/working in your browser, check below what you can do about it
10. Try another computer or device (tablet, phone etc).
11. Some radiostations have limited rights for international broadcasting. Some stations only broadcast in their own country. For example BBC in the UK and lots of stations in the US. If you really want to listen use a proxy server from that specific country to solve this problem.
12. Report this issue using our Broken Link page or send an email to [email protected]. We are able to see if there is something wrong.

Why do I see a grey screen?

Probably this is caused by an popup adblocker

Stream keeps on buffering
In Windows Media Player you can improve this. Go to Extra, Options, and then tab performance to extend the netwerkbuffer to 15 seconds.
