Hot 80s and A Few Sneaky 90s! We’ve often wondered why our favourite radio stations and music streaming services play random songs that don’t reflect our lifestyle. We were frustrated by the music selections we were hearing. So we took action and created Turbo80s.com. We've gone back to our favourite decade – the 1980s – and picked the hottest hits of the 80s. Songs that capture the pace and energy of our lives. Songs that evoke happy memories. And most important of all, songs with strong vocals and a beat that we can dance to. Of course, some great music was also produced after 1989 and that's why we play a few sneaky 90s too. Songs that reflect the spirit of the 80s and our lifestyles now. Turbo 106 FM In the late 1980s, Chris Young, Tony Russell and Mark McKenna set up and ran an FM radio station in Dublin, Ireland, called Turbo 106 FM. We played up-tempo chart hits, presented by a staff of young and talented DJs. Turbo 106 FM closed its doors for the last time on 30 Dec 1988 as a result of new legislation brought in to regulate the radio sector. We found ourselves with a large amount of fantastic music just waiting to be played and decided to enter the mobile DJ market. Turbo80s.com The Covid-19 pandemic was a shock to the system for everyone and we’re all still dealing with the consequences. However, the boredom of lockdown had one upside. We began to discuss the possibility of relaunching Turbo 106 FM as an internet radio station capturing the energy, spirit and pace of our original radio station, whilst at the same time setting the record straight as to what an authentic 80s station sounded like. We felt that the gap between today’s radio stations and music streamers like Spotify needed to be filled and Turbo80s.com was the station to do it. After many months of hard work to get everything absolutely right, Turbo80s.com launched on the 2nd of January 2022. We’re delighted with the results and we hope you are too!

What could be the reason there is no sound?

1. Make sure your speakers and the media player are not muted :) Not an uncommon problem ;)
2. Please try again in another browser, preferably Chrome, Firefox and when using a windows media player option Internet Explorer.
3. Try another stream type clicking: windows media player or external player as alternative
4. Be patient, some radiostations load within 10-20 seconds due to high traffic issues.
5. If you do not have any flash player we automatically load the second best player, so again be patient.
6. If the stream doesn't start automatically please click the play button or the mp3 option on the right, please retry 1,2 or 3 times. Most of the times this works.
7. If you are using a windows media player, this will mostly only work in Internet Explorer.
8. A radiostation might be temporarily unavailable due to several reasons. If your favorite station is not working right now, please try again in a few moments.
9. The media player isn't showing/working in your browser, check below what you can do about it
10. Try another computer or device (tablet, phone etc).
11. Some radiostations have limited rights for international broadcasting. Some stations only broadcast in their own country. For example BBC in the UK and lots of stations in the US. If you really want to listen use a proxy server from that specific country to solve this problem.
12. Report this issue using our Broken Link page or send an email to [email protected]. We are able to see if there is something wrong.

Why do I see a grey screen?

Probably this is caused by an popup adblocker

Stream keeps on buffering
In Windows Media Player you can improve this. Go to Extra, Options, and then tab performance to extend the netwerkbuffer to 15 seconds.
