The station is the brainchild of cofounders and presenters of the former Qwa Qwa community Radio. After some battle of power, the members decided to start their own radio station as being a radio presenter is their passion to inter act and rebuild the community. Mzansi Connect Radio was initiated in 2019 and managed to acquire offices, studio equipment that assist the station to broadcast globally. Mzansi aims to give effect to access to information as stated in the constitution of the republic of South Africa. The station exists through the generous sponsorship of several key public and private donors. Despite the successful launch and implementation of Mzansi Connect Radio station, major challenges face the establishment for the future. These include the need for further funding, particularly for the maintenance of the existing radio in terms of equipment, staff training and educational needs, to name a few.
